Virginia E. (Flight) Johnson

November 5th, 2021

Virginia E. (Flight) Johnson, age 76, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on November 3rd, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was a woman of many talents.  She was a great seamstress, making clothes for her daughters, Yvette and Kristen when they were young.  She enjoyed ceramics and was an avid bowler in her younger days.  Virginia was a hard worker, whether it was raising her three children, her job or keeping her home, especially outdoors, she always had a beautiful yard and garden.  Virginia had a talent for making any plant flourish no matter how dreary it was.

Virginia loved spending her time with her best friend Naomi, going to play Bingo, drinking coffee and chatting, or wallpapering Naomi’s kitchen post with Riunite labels.

Family was the most important thing to Virginia.  She was the biggest cheerleader for her children and never missed a game or Boy Scout event for her son, Dewey.  She loved to take her children camping and listening out for Moose Snorts.  Her grandchildren were a great joy and she always enjoyed visiting with them, telling them stories and snuggling. She will leave a large void in the lives of her family and friends.

Virginia was the beloved wife of the late Arthur D. Johnson, Jr.  She was the loving mother of Yvette Atkinson of Wilmington, Arthur Dewey Johnson, III & his fiance Christine of Tewksbury, and Kristen Johnson of Wilmington.  Virginia was the cherished Grammy of Benjamin & Matthew Atkinson, Miranda & Cody Johnson and Kaitlyn Johnson-Bagrowski.  She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Virginia (Peavey) Flight, her brother Harold Flight, survived by his wife Marylee Flight of New York and her best friend and sister-in-law Naomi Teixeira and her husband Gabriel.  Virginia is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

At Virginia’s request, all funeral services will be held privately.

Memorial donations in Virginia’s name can be made to Local Heroes, Inc., PO Box 536, Wilmington, MA  01887.
