Voner, Rita

Rita M. (Murphy) Voner, age 90, a long-time Wilmington resident, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Wingate of Andover following a brief illness.

Born in Boston, MA, on September 1, 1920, Rita was the cherished daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Jones) Murphy. Rita grew up in East Boston and was educated there, she moved to Wilmington over 53 years ago, where she became a very active member of St. Dorothy’s Parish.

Rita was recognized as one of the first cashiers of DeMoulas Market in Wilmington and also worked for Compugraphic in Wilmington until she retired.

Rita enjoyed traveling to Maine, vacationing with her daughter and family, and traveling with her devoted son Michael on their many excursions to Conway, New Hampshire and all over Germany when he was in the Air Force. Rita was a devoted mother and loving grandmother, she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. “Love You Ma Forever”.

Rita was the beloved mother of Mary E. (Torredimare) Hall and her husband Arthur J. Hall of Livermore, ME, formerly of Wilmington, the late Carole J. Cote and her husband Robert Cote of Billerica, and the late Michael E. Voner of Wilmington, loving grandmother Michael J. Hall of Livermore, ME, Trooper Joseph F. Hall and his wife Debra of Lunenburg, Jeffrey Cote of Boston, the late Kimberly Jean Hall of Fayette, ME, and great-grandchildren Jessica Lynn and Michael Anthony Hall of Maine and their mother Cynthia LaMarca, Taylor and Nicholas Hall of Lunenberg, dear sister of the late Dorothy Barry and Helen Huskins, Rita is also survived by her loving friends Dorothy Hall, Jean Gill, and Leslie Forristall, as well as many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Tuesday, April 26th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in the family lot at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours Monday, April 25th from 4-8 p.m.

Memorial donations in Rita’s name may be made to St. Dorothy’s Church.
