William “Bill” Carroll

December 6th, 2021

William J. Carroll, “Bill”, age 54, of Chester, NH, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away unexpectedly due to injuries sustained in an accident on December 4, 2021.

Bill was born on March 21, 1967, in Winchester, MA; he was the cherished son of Kathleen (Bickford) Carroll and the late John Carroll of Wilmington. Bill was raised and educated in Wilmington; he attended Wilmington Public Schools, played youth sports and graduated from Shawsheen Tech High School in Billerica with the Class of 1985.

Bill was a hard worker in the construction field throughout his life. He worked for several different companies before taking a job at the SPS New England Company, where he was actively involved in Bridge Construction and repairs. Bill’s hard work, dedication and knowledge of his profession was evident in everything he did; Bill worked his way through the ranks and was currently a Supervisor for the Company at the time of his passing. Bill formed many great friendships with his co-workers through the years; some he considered extended family.

Bill married his “sweetheart and best friend” Pamela Murray in November of 1989; the couple raised two wonderful children and shared many great times with their family and friends throughout the years. Bill also enjoyed his role as “Papa” to his three grandchildren whom he adored.

In his spare time, Bill, loved to be out on the water boating on Winnisquam Lake or heading out on his many camping excursions at their camp on Winnisquam Lake in Belmont, New Hampsire, with his family or his buddies. He loved following his Boston sports teams; especially “his” New England Patriots and looked forward to going to many Pats home games at Gillette Stadium throughout the years.

Bill will be fondly remembered as a “great guy” and a hard worker who would go out of his way to help anyone. He was kind and friendly towards everyone he met and loved his family and friends unconditionally. Bill’s sudden passing will leave a huge void in the lives of those he touched; he will forever be remembered, loved and missed by all.

Bill was the beloved husband of Pamela (Murray) Carroll, devoted father of Patrick Carroll of Chester, NH and Lauren Carroll of Manchester, NH, loving “Papa” of Camden, Brady and Averah. Dear brother of Gene Carroll and his fiancé Sylvia Gibbons of Wilmington, Tina Williamson and her fiancé James Hannon of Tewksbury, Cindy Case of Wilmington, the late Shawn Carroll, the late Jack Carroll, Charlie Carroll of Needham, Richard Carroll and his wife Brigid of Carver and Mark Carroll of Waltham. Son-in-law of John “Jack” and Marie Murray of Wilmington, brother-in-law of Donna and Dennis Sullivan of Wilmington, John and Enge Murray of Tewksbury, Frank and Tricia Murray of South Boston and the late Lisa and Joe Velozo. Bill is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Wednesday, December 8th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will take place on Thursday, December 9th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA.
