William “Bill” Smith

William T. Smith, “Bill”, age 76, of Wilmington, died peacefully on October 9, 2017, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Bill was born in Waltham, MA, on March 15, 1941; he was the dear son of the late William “Ernest” and Frances (Bradshaw) Smith. Bill was raised and educated in Waltham and lived there for many years before moving to Wilmington. From 1962 until 1968, Bill, proudly served with the Army National Guard and the U. S. Army Reserves; he was honorably discharged in March of 1968 earning his rank as a Staff Sergeant.

Bill was known to be a hard worker, for many years he was employed as a Machinist for the Crown, Cork & Seal Company.

Bill was the beloved husband of Janet M. (Sarkisian) Smith of Wilmington, step-father of Sharon Coleman and Sheila Trocha & her husband Joseph, “Grandpa” of Katrina Trocha, dear brother of Ruthann Rubman, Elizabeth “Betty” Donovan, and Janet Bastarache.
Bill is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Family & friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Friday, October 13th for Visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors
will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the MSPCA Angell at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
