kincaid-byronByron L. Kincaid, age 72, of Wilmington, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at the Winchester Hospital.

Born on June 16, 1936, in Malden, MA, Byron was the dear son of the late Allen & Ruth (Brown) Kincaid. Byron grew up in Malden and was educated there, he enlisted in the United States Army and served the Country during the Korean War. Following his return from the Service, Byron was employed as a truck driver while he went to a training school to earn his electrician’s license. When his training was complete, Byron got into Union Local 103 in Boston, where he worked as a licensed electrician until he retired in 1996.

Byron married Judith A. Murphy on June 11, 1961, they lived in Wakefield for several years until they moved to Wilmington in 1967 to raise their four children.

Byron quickly became an active member of the community, he was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Post 2458 in Wilmington and was very involved in helping out at the Knights of Columbus Hall and at St. Thomas of Villanova Church.

In his spare time, Byron loved to travel making frequent trips to Florida, cruising, or to any destination that was warm. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, following the New York Giants, to which he was a life-long fan, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren, attending their sporting and school events whenever he could. Byron will be remembered by family and friends as someone who enjoyed life, who was very talented, always willing to help others, and a devoted family man. He will be missed dearly.

Byron was the beloved husband of Judith A. (Murphy) Kincaid, devoted father of Byron Kincaid & his wife Michele (Hayden) and Christopher Kincaid all of Wilmington, Cheryl Stone of Billerica, and Stephanie Kincaid of Reading, he is survived by his grandchildren whom he loved dearly and was so proud of Jonathan, Matthew, and Zachary Kincaid all of Wilmington, Samantha and Allison Stone both of Billerica, he was the dear brother of Allen Kincaid & his wife Mary of Florida, Phyllis Nye of Woburn, Renee Knutson of Peabody, Gail Archambault of Ludlow, Gerald Kincaid & his wife Linda of Derry, NH, and the late Joan Noone and William Kincaid, brother-in-law of Edward J. Murphy & his wife Beverly of Rollinsford, NH, James J. Murphy & his wife Loretta of Westford, Dennis C. Murphy of Medford, and the late Carol Nye, Arthur Knutson, Paul Noone, and Archie Archambault, Byron is also survived by his dear friends Gail & Leo Feeney of Salem, NH, Jackie & Tony Bazzinotti of Wilmington, and many nieces & nephews.

Family & friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Wednesday, June 3rd at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday, June 2nd from 4-8 p.m.

    Judy & family …. When I was telling Ron about Byron he couldn’t quite place him as he had only met him once. When I started to remind him about Leo’s 70th birthday party, Ron said, ” Oh, I remember him…he was the guy with the big smile “. I guess that says it all…he had the most terrific smile and laughing eyes. We are so saddened for your family, and you, that he is gone, but how lucky were all who could call him “friend”.
