Mary T. (Estrella) “Teri” LaBella

March 1st, 2021

Mary T. (Estrella) “Teri” LaBella, age 73, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Teri was the beloved wife of John F. Doherty, devoted mother of Stacy M. LaBella of Billerica and loving grandmother, “Vavo”, of Cecilia “Cicey” Taucher. She was the cherished daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Vieira Garcia) Estrella, dear sister of John Estrella & his wife Diane of Billerica, Rosalie “Rose” Fitch & her husband John of Wilmington and the late Anthony “Tony” Estrella. Teri is also survived by her nephews Joshua, Jacob & Justin Fitch, her sister-in-law Joanne Doherty & her partner Larry Howarth, both of Lowell, as well as many friends.

Teri was an English major who graduated from Merrimack College; reading was her lifetime love, and she could always be found with a book in hand, especially when at her favorite place, the beach. She became a teacher of Chinese cooking, sharing her expertise with others, and her love of cooking continued through the many classes she took with her daughter and granddaughter.

She loved to travel and to experience art and culture; she loved to spend simple nights at home entertaining and enjoying the company of her family and friends. She loved crafting and sharing her skills with her granddaughter; she loved curling up with a book on a rainy afternoon and escaping into a story. She loved a good movie, she loved a good laugh, and she loved her “world”, as she told her husband, daughter and granddaughter on one of their last days together. Her memory will continue on always, in the stories that will be shared by those that loved her.

Teri, along with her husband John, were very active in the Wilmington Rotary Club and are owners of Wilmington Insurance Agency, Inc. She always gave of her time and talents to help her community, as an active member of the Wilmington Garden Club and in a multitude of other ways.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Friday, March 5th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Masks are required to be worn while in the Funeral Home. A “Celebration of Life” will be held upon a future date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Teri’s memory to Wilmington Memorial Library, 175 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA 01887.
