Robert A. Boyd

Robert Alden Boyd, “Bob”, age 84, a long-time resident of Haverhill, MA passed away in Bangor, ME on December 2, 2020.

Bob was born in Somerville, MA on November 28, 1936; he was the son of the late Alden J. and Lillian (Smith) Boyd and was the youngest of four children. Bob grew up in Wilmington, MA and attended Wilmington schools.

Following graduation, Bob joined the U.S. Navy on September 13, 1955. He proudly served for four years before being honorably discharged on September 4, 1959.

Bob furthered his education at East Coast Aero Tech; after earning his degree, he was employed by Eastern Airlines for 28 years as an aircraft mechanic specializing in sheet metal repair. Following his career at Eastern, he became self-employed, working as a home maintenance contractor.

Bob was multi-talented; he enjoyed gardening, camping, fixing, and creating just about anything and stayed busy with his favorite hobby of woodworking. He was an avid animal lover and doted on his last cat, Bud.

Bob is survived by two sons, Jason Boyd of VA and Douglas Boyd of ME, his two grandchildren, Lucas and Jaina Boyd, his former wife of 25 years Wilma Johanessen and his long-time companion Judy Madigan. Bob is further survived by his brother-in-law Charlie White, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his older sisters Beatrice (White), Jean (Nichols) and Eleanor (Hood).

Bob will be laid to rest at Wildwood Cemetery, 233 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, on Saturday, June 19th at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the MSPCA, Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.

    My husband John who passed away in 2012 and I were good friends with Bob and Judy. Bob spent a lot of time talking with John , they got along so well. He will be missed by me . RIP Bob, you and John can talk all day now !
