Anderson, “Doff” Obituary

Dorothy "Doff" R. Andersen passed away Sept. 27, 2007 at Lexington Nursing home after a brief period of failing health.

She was born in 1914 in Malden and was a graduate of Wilmington High School. She lived in Wilmington her whole life. With her husband Wigo, her sister Evelyn and brother in-law David, she farmed land on Park Street. She was a bookkeeper for the former D&D Gulf on Middlesex Avenue, owned by her son and nephew.

She is survived by her son Donald and his wife Gwendolyn of Wilmington, William and his wife Tracey of Forestdale, Charlene and her life partner Cheryl of Nottingham, NH, Pennilyn Dudley and her husband Paul, of Wilmington, grandchildren, and great grandchildren Derek and Karl Andersen, a nephew and four nieces.

Doff was a member of the Ladies Benevolent Society of the Congregational Church for many years. She loved to create - crocheting, crafting, woodworking, and sewing and played the organ. She enjoyed vacationing with her family at their lake camp in Maine. She was a collector of unique salt & pepper shakers and teddy bears. Doff even made her own teddy bears and won first prize in the Deerfield, NH Fair for her own "Farmer" teddy bear.

People and animals who came in contact with Doff where blessed with her gentleness, compassion and giving nature. She had a gift that calmed our hearts and her spirit will live in us always.

A private burial service will be held at Wilmington Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., Wilmington.
