Anita Sirignano Obituary

Anita M. Sirignano, (DiPietro), age 77, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on December 5, 2022.

Anita was born on March 1, 1945, in Winthrop, MA; she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Annie (Ciampa) DiPietro.  Anita was raised in Lynn and graduated from St. Mary’s High School.

Following graduation, Anita went to work for GE as a payroll specialist.  She was organized and made many friends while working there.

Anita met Paul Sirignano at the Flamingo night club in 1967; he asked her to dance, and the rest is history.  They dated for about a year before Paul asked Anita to marry him on Christmas Eve in 1968.  Anita and Paul were married on October 10, 1970 and honeymooned on Martha’s Vineyard.

Anita and Paul lived in East Boston for two years before settling in Wilmington in March of 1973.  They were delighted to welcome their only son, Ralph, to their family in 1981.  Anita was a loving mother; she enjoyed taking her son to school every day and volunteering as a team mother for Ralph’s sports and extracurricular activities.

Anita and Paul’s house was open to everyone; they enjoyed hosting summer barbecues by the pool, and holidays with their family.  Anita was extremely close with her mother, Annie.  Every Friday, after picking Ralph up from school, Anita would pick up her mother from Lynn and take her to the house for the weekend.  After many years of weekend visits, Annie moved in with Anita and Paul until she passed away ten years later.

Anita will be remembered for her wonderful personality; she was a great friend to many.  Anita planned monthly lunches with her friends from high school; she was the organizer of the group and made sure everyone knew the plans.

Anita will be missed by her family and friends.

Anita was the beloved wife of Paul L. Sirignano, devoted mother of Ralph Sirignano & his wife Michelle, grandmother of Presley Sirignano, cherished daughter of the late Anthony and Annie (Ciampa) DiPietro, dear brother of Peter DiPietro & his late wife Laverne, sister-in-law of Antoinette Petrillo & her late husband Puccio, Lia Colarusso & her late husband Michael, Lucy Maddalone & her husband Salvatore, Rosalba Aylwin & her late husband Joe, and the late Sylvana Sirignano.  Anita is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Saturday, December 10th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St., (Rte. 38), Wilmington, at 10:00 a.m.  Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 9th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
