Balser, “Jay” Obituary

James (Jay) Balser, of Wilmington, died suddenly on October 30, 2007 in Woburn. He was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Foster and Louise Balser, on May 17, 1948.

Jay had was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in his earlier years and served the country as a load master in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era. He graduated with the class of 1967 from Wilmington High School and recently had been very active with the class attending and hosting mini-reunions, including the very popular cookouts on the Fourth of July from his home across from Wilmington's Town Common.

He was an arborist and had worked for many landscaping companies. His favorite position had been with L.L. Bean, in Maine. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer and her husband Jeff Adams of Mancos, CO and their children Tim and Lisa Balser. He was the brother of Gary Balser of Florida and Ellen and William Kimble of Florida. Also he is survived by his nieces and nephew Tim and Lisa Balser and Brooke and Katie Kimble.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the family plot in Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington. Visiting hours have been omitted. Arrangements are through the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington.
