Blanche Hobart Obituary

Blanche A. (Lawson) Hobart, 99, of Burlington, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at Woodbriar of Wilmington.

Blanche was born May 17, 1907 in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence F. & Rachel M. (Arthurs) Lawson. She emigrated with her family to the United States as a small child. Her family resided in the Boston area, where she started her education at the Cushman School, they then moved to Cambridge in 1915, where she attended the Thorndike School, and finally settled in Burlington in 1919, where she finished her education and resided there until her death. Blanche was a member of the Goodwill Rebecca Lodge and the Rebecca Assembly since 1929, she was a Past Noble Grand and received her 70 year pin in 1999. She was also a member of the Fellowship Bible Church in Burlington. Blanche was a beautiful seamstress and she was a dedicated homemaker.

She was the beloved wife of the late William Hobart, Jr., devoted mother of Kenneth C. Hobart of Northwood, NH and Polk City, FL, and Eileen Bates- Simpson & her husband Donald L. Simpson of Vero Beach, FL, loving grandmother of Russell S. Bates, Nancy A. Bates, Judy Hobart, Donna Schofield, Dianne Travers, & Eileen Irons all of New Hampshire, David W. Bates of Burlington, Kenneth Hobart of Reading, Denise Kennedy of Bellingham, and Cynthia A. Bates of Texas, 17 Great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, Blanche is also survived by 2 very dear friends and constant companions Joyce Dalton of Wilmington and Diane Artick of Burlington.

Her funeral services were held from the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Tuesday, February 27, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at the Fellowship Bible Church, 71 Center St., Burlington at 12:00 noon. Interment took place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
