Obituary

Annunciata "Ann" (Viscogliosi) Bongiorno, age101, of Tewksbury, formerly of Wilmington,Waltham and Salemi, Sicily, died Thursday, January 17th, at her home surrounded by her family. Ann was born March 25, 1906, in Isola di Lire, Italy; she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Domenica (Mastriani) Viscogliosi. She came to America when she was 9 years old, settling in Waltham, MA, with her family. Ann was educated in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School.

Ann married Paul Bongiorno in April of 1938 and they were married for 50 years prior to his passing in July of 1988. They lived in Waltham where they owned and operated Angelo's Market on the corner of Newton & Gorham Streets for many years. They moved to Wilmington in 1954, where Ann resided until 2000, when she went to live with her only daughter and her family in Tewksbury.

Ann was very devoted to her family, she was a fabulous cook and she loved to have them for "family dinners". In her spare time Ann had many talents including sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Ann is survived by only daughter and son-in-law Mary and George Iannuzzo of Tewksbury, with whom she resided; her granddaughters Rose Iannuzzo and Valerie (Iannuzzo) Lowell and her husband Bruce all of Lowell, and her great-grandchildren Chiara, Dominic, Jenna and Gianna.

Visiting hours were held at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Monday, January 21st, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. Interment took place in Wildwood Cemetery.
