Charlotte Sheppard DeMarco, age 89, a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, formerly of Dracut, MA, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Charlotte was born in Lowell, MA, on March 7, 1933; she was the dear daughter of the late Charles and Georgianna (Lemoine) Sheppard and one of 12 siblings. Charlotte was raised and educated in Dracut, MA and a graduate of Dracut High School.
Charlotte married Philip DeMarco in December 1960. The couple made their home in Wilmington, where they raised their wonderful family. Charlotte's family was everything to her; she made a beautiful home where her door was always open, and everyone was welcomed. Charlotte showered her family with unconditional love and support; she treasured the time she spent with her children, her siblings, her friends, but especially her grandchildren whom she adored.
When not taking care of her family; Charlotte volunteered her time and talents to help others. Charlotte had an endearing personality and truly believed in giving everyone a chance. Charlotte volunteered for many years at the House of Hope in Lowell, she made blankets for Project Linus, she was active in Operation Shoebox and collected for the Shriner's Burn Hospital in Boston. Charlotte's compassion for others was evident in everything she did. Charlotte was also very active in her community of Wilmington; for many years she volunteered her time with the Wilmington Fun on the 4th of July Committee.
In her spare time, Charlotte enjoyed crocheting, going to bingo, traveling with family and friends, participating in the many activities at the Wilmington Senior Center and Sunday family dinners.
Charlotte will be fondly remembered for her kind and generous spirit and her beautiful soul; she was always willing to help when needed. Charlotte touched so many people throughout her life and she will forever live in the hearts of those who loved her.
Charlotte is survived by her beloved children, Judith Albrecht & her husband Christopher of Methuen, Elizabeth Carrick & her husband Ron of The Villages, FL, Philip J. DeMarco, Jr. of Lowell and Steven DeMarco & his wife Anne of Wilmington. She was the loving "Nannie" of Alyssa Carrick & her fiancé James Roman, Lauren Dextradeur & her husband Craig, Jenna Albrecht and Benjamin Albrecht. Sister of Beryl Sandelli & her husband Frank of Dracut; Charlotte is further survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. She is pre-deceased by her husband, her parents and her siblings Lawrence, Wallace, Robert, Louis, Henry and Charles Sheppard, Willa Singleton, Muriel Keegan, Annie Zelinski and Evelyn Makiej.
Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Sunday, October 16th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. A Celebration of Charlotte's life will take place at the Funeral Home on Monday, October 17th at 11:00 a.m.
