Claire C. Tildsley

Claire C. (O'Neil) Tildsley, age 76, of Wilmington, died Sunday, April 15, at the Blaire House in Tewksbury following a brief illness.

Claire, was born August 21, 1930, in Brighton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Evelyn (Moran) O'Neil. Claire grew up in Somerville, MA, and she graduated from Somerville High School. She married James A. Tildsley on June 10, 1950, and they soon started a family. They moved to Wilmington in 1956 to raise their sons and remained residents until retirement in 1993 when they split their time between Wells, Maine and Plant City, Florida. Prior to retirement Claire was a teller for the Commercial Bank and Trust Company at Wilmington Plaza for many years and she also worked at AVCO in Wilmington for over 10 years. In her spare time she was an avid Bingo player. During this past year, Claire became ill and they returned to Wilmington to be closer to their family.

Claire was the beloved wife of James A. Tildsley, devoted mother of James A. Tildsley, Jr., & his wife Kathryn of Andover, Sidney A. Tildsley & his wife Sharon and Martin F. Tildsley & his wife Carol all of Wilmington, loving grandmother of Kaylan, Kyle Tildsley, Brian Tildsley & his wife Erica, Kevin, Jason, Kellee Tildsley, and Marty & Ryan Tildsley, great-grandmother of Tayla, Sidney, & James George Tildsley, dear sister of Evelyn Coyne & her husband Charles of Belmont, and the late Dorothy O'Kane, sister-in-law of Francis O'Kane of Brighto, she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, & dear friends in Florida.

Her funeral will be held from the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Thursday, April 19, at 9:00 followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m.
