Coombs, June

June (Stewart Cates) Coombs, age 86, of Dover, NH, formerly of Wilmington, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 in Dover, NH.

June was born on August 8, 1921, in Andover, MA, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Emma (Boutwell) Cates. She moved with her family to Wilmington in 1924 and resided here until 2000. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School Class of 1939. Following high school June attended Wheelock College in Boston. June and her husband Corydon owned and operated Coombs Furniture in North Wilmington for 66 years, which was a local landmark. In 1959, the Coombs family bought a cottage on Lake Ossippee in New Hampshire and June enjoyed spending her summers there with her family; she also loved walking, planting, biking, playing cards, and traveling all over the United States and Europe. June was a wonderful wife and mother, her family will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years Corydon Coombs. She was the devoted mother of Cory Coombs & his wife Donna of North Carolina, Bonnie Gobeille & her husband William of Wenham, MA and Howard Coombs of Haverhill, MA, dear daughter of the late Howard & Emma (Boutwell) Cates, loving grandmother of Nissa Rayfield, Cory and Todd Coombs, Matthew Foley, Kevin, Joanna, and Elizabeth Coombs, great-grandmother of Luke, Emma, Anna, and Sarah, sister of the late Esther Hall.

Visiting hours took place on Tuesday, March 25th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62) Wilmington. Memorial donations in June's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
