Deborah (Martell) Bertrand

Deborah Bertrand (Martell), fondly known as "Debi" to her family and friends, passed away on September 7, 2023, at the age of 70.

Born September 24th, 1952, in Cambridge, Debi was a beautiful, kind soul who cherished every moment with her family.  Debi was a fantastic cook and loved having her family visit, whether it be for a big family meal where she would serve her famous sauce and meatballs, or for delicious cookouts, or just to share a glass of wine together and a chit chat on the deck (as long as you also loved her fur baby Gladis). Debi loved her home and the close-knit neighborhood where she and her husband Dick have lived for the past 35 years, and her neighbors were her extended family.  Her heart being bigger than she was, Debi saw the good in everyone and opened her door to any friend or stranger who needed someone to listen to or certainly to make you laugh with her quirky funny comments. 

Debi leaves behind her best friend and love of each other’s lives, husband, Richard (Dick) Bertrand.  She also leaves behind her beloved children; daughter Christine Dickson and husband Steven of Wilmington, MA, and sons Keith Bertrand and wife Laurie of Derry, NH, Derek Perry of North Chelmsford, MA, and Richard Bertrand III and wife Erica of North Conway, NH.  She also leaves behind her precious seven ‘grand-babies’; Steven and fiancé Jaclyn, Madison, Kaden, Mikayla, Caleb, Koryn, and Ashlee, as well as the newest addition to her family, great-grandchild Warren Atwood Dickson.  Debi also leaves behind her sister Lisa and husband Curtis Kennedy of West Bridgewater, MA., Her sister-in-law Phyllis Martell who she cherished every conversation they shared and her many special nieces, nephews, friends and extended family who she loved dearly.  

Graveside services will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, 233 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA, on Wednesday September 13th at 12:00 noon.  Following services, all are invited to continue a Celebration of Debi's life at the Wilmington/Tewksbury Elks, 777 South St., Tewksbury, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations are kindly asked to be made in Debi’s name to either the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave., Suite 6, Waltham, MA  02451 (www.heart.org/donate) or to Local Hero’s, Inc., P. O. Box 536, Wilmington, MA  01887.
