Diane was born on June 15, 1951, in Weymouth, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Kenneth and Ellen (Lydeard) Smith.  As a child, Diane lived in Weymouth for a short time before moving with her parents and two sisters, Christine, and Blanche, to the Berkshires.  The Smith family then settled in Woburn, where Diane graduated from high school.

Following graduation, Diane furthered her education at Northeastern University, earning her bachelor’s degree.  Diane went to work as a technical writer for Sylvania and GTE for several years before freelancing for many different companies.

Diane married her husband, Harold Teto, on September 22, 1979.  The couple lived in Arlington for a few years before settling in Grafton.  Diane and Harold enjoyed each other’s company, they shared a very special and loving relationship.  The two loved to travel to their favorite places, including Alaska.  Diane had an appreciation for nature and loved planting and spending time in her garden.

In her spare time, Diane enjoyed spending time with her family; she never missed a family event, she was an excellent cook and made special Thanksgiving meals and memories for her family to enjoy.  She looked forward to her long phone conversations with family and friends, where she got to “catch up” with everyone in her life.  Diane was an avid reader and loved her crossword puzzles.

Diane was very special to her family, and she will be missed by those who knew her.

Diane was the beloved wife of the late Harold Teto, loving stepmother of Anne Higgins & her husband Jude of Germantown, TN, Mark Teto & his wife Nicoletta of Sarasota, FL, and JR Teto & his wife Emma of Littleton, “Di-Di” to Matt Higgins, Mark Higgins, Chris Higgins, Samantha Higgins, Michael Teto, Caroline Teto, Helaina Teto, Liam Teto, and Lily Teto, dear sister of Christine Twohig & the late Robert D’Amore of West Newbury and the late Blanche Peck & her husband Thomas of Wilmington, “Auntie” of Cheryl & Cary Schiffman, Suzanne & Bill Burns, Thomas Peck, Jr., George & Amanda Twohig, Shelley & Stu Hudson, and Derek & Lindsey Twohig.  Diane is also survived by many loving aunts, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
