Donna M. (Williams) Alonardo

Donna M. Alonardo (Williams), age 69, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 1, 2022.

Donna was born on September 18, 1952, in Boston, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late Kenneth and Margaret (McGaugh) Williams.  Donna was raised and educated in Weymouth, MA and was a graduate of Weymouth High School with the Class of 1970.  Donna went on to earn her degree as a Registered Nurse at the Brockton Nursing School.  

Donna married her beloved husband Mike Alonardo in April of 1974 and was welcomed into a large and loving Italian family.  Donna and Mike lived in Medford for a few years before they moved "up country" and bought their home in Wilmington in 1980, where they raised three wonderful kids.  Donna was a devoted wife and mother; she showered her family with unconditional love and support and she was always there for them.  Donna was so proud of her children and their accomplishments; she was their biggest fan when it came to their sporting events, school events, or whatever they were involved in.  When Donna became "Nana" to Ryan, Lauren and Marietta, her world became brighter; she loved her grandchildren with all her heart and treasured the time they spent together.

Prior to retiring, Donna, worked for many years as a teacher's aide in the Wilmington Public Schools where she was better known as "Mrs. A" to the kids.  Donna's kind and compassionate nature towards the kids was evident in everything she did and the kids just loved her.  She always went out of her way to help the students and staff and she made many friends with her co-workers throughout the years.

In her spare time, Donna, enjoyed reading a good book, boating and fishing on Boston Harbor with family and friends, family holidays and vacations.  She looked forward to trips to Las Vegas, Twin Rivers or Foxwoods with "the gang"; they always had a great time, a lot of laughs and had fun "trying their luck".
Donna was a wonderful lady who would do anything for anyone; she had a quiet demeanor but a huge heart.  Donna will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Donna was the beloved wife of Michael Alonardo, devoted mother of Michael Alonardo and his wife Melissa of Westford, Joseph Alonardo of Wilmington, and Melissa Romano and her husband Edward of Wilmington.  She was the loving "Nana" of Ryan and Lauren Alonardo and Marietta Romano, dear sister of Richard Williams of Lynnfield, the late Mary Williams and the late Carole Williams.  Wonderful daughter-in- law of Dorothy and the late Michael Alonardo of Medford, sister-in-law of the late Richard and Cheryl Alonardo, Thomas and Donna Alonardo, Marie and Gerard Orlando all of Medford and the late Tony and Donna Alonardo of Wilmington.  Donna is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Thursday, September 8th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA, at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford, MA.  Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 7th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
