Violet M. (Ronco) Duggan, age 89, of Wilmington, died Thursday, November 6, 2008, surrounded by her family at Woodbriar of Wilmington.
Born on May 1, 1919, in Medford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. & Sylvia (Mitchell) Ronco. Violet grew up in Medford, MA, and was educated there. She graduated from Medford High School where she was awarded a full scholarship to attend the New England Conservatory of Music to study vocal music, she attended the Conservatory in 1938 & 1939.
Violet moved to Wilmington at the age of 18 and resided there until her death. Family was very important to Violet, she was a dedicated homemaker, she loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She was a very loving and devoted wife of the late Charles E. Duggan with whom she married in 1939 and celebrated 54 years of marriage until his passing in 1993.
Violet was the beloved mother of Barbara (Duggan) Morse & her husband Robert L. of Northport, FL formerly of Tewksbury, Janet Duggan and Maureen Duggan both of Wilmington, and Charles E. Duggan, Jr. & his wife Elizabeth of Londonderry, NH, loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, dear daughter of the late Edward J. & Sylvia (Mitchell) Ronco, sister of Eleanor T. Gagnon of Laconia, NH, and the late Edward J. Ronco, Jr., Marjorie R. Dzwilewski, Dorothy S. Munro, and June F. Roach, Violet is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Monday, November 10th at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours Sunday, November 9th from 4-8 p.m.
