Elena (Nedelcu) Ivan

Elena “Ela” Ivan, of Andover, MA, passed away unexpectedly on August 15th, 2022.

Ela was born on January 13, 1960, in Prundu, Romania, beloved daughter of the late Niculae and late Alexandrina “Sanda” Nedelcu.

She earned a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universitatea Politechnica Bucharest in 1985.  She went on to have a successful career at F.E.A. In 2000, she emigrated to America to provide her son with a better opportunity, leaving behind friends, family, and the life she worked hard to build in Romania. She settled in the greater Boston area.

She is survived by her son Radu Andrei Ivan, daughter-in-law Sarah Ivan, granddaughters Abigail Ivan and Clara Ivan, former husband Mihai Ivan, older brother Niculae Nedelcu and his wife Elena, nephew Ionut Nedelcu and niece Livia Nedelcu, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Ela will be remembered for her generosity and kindness, always willing to help others, her devotion to her family, and her love of gardening. She would bring fresh berries for her granddaughters on every occasion because she knew how much they loved fruit. She supported her family, especially her son, with all her heart.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Friday, August 19th for Service to Celebrate Ela’s Life at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will precede services starting at 4:30PM.
