Elizabeth Keeley Obituary

Elizabeth Rose Keeley, "Betty", age 88, of Wilmington, MA, formerly a resident of Medford, MA, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late William Keeley Sr., devoted mother to William Keeley Jr. and his wife Laura, Edward Keeley and his wife Elvira, and Brian Keeley and his significant other Allison. Nicknamed “Mima,” Elizabeth was an adored grandmother to Shannon, Christopher and his fiancé Courtney, Sean, Connor and his wife Caroline, Luke, Brad, and Jason. Elizabeth is also great grandmother to Cora and a treasured aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Paul Chagnon and Florence (Babeau) Chagnon and siblings Randy and Frankie, she is survived by her loving sister Annette.

At a very young age while still living in North Adams, Betty tuned into her adventurous side by hiking various trails with childhood friends. She moved to Medford, MA at the age of 7. During her teenage years, she played softball for the Catholic Youth Organization.

Betty will be remembered as fiercely loyal to four main things: her country, religion, family, and Tom Brady (in that order). That being said, when Brady “betrayed the family,” he went from “my Tommy boy” to Tom really quick.

She remained active through trips with the rec department in Wilmington, many early morning road trips for breakfast with Billy, which were typically followed by a fly-in air show, visits to Maine to see her son Brian, musical theater shows with Shannon and Laura, day trips and weekly phone calls with Christopher, and lunch dates to the 99’s with Jane. She cherished homemade calendars and CDs sent to her from Eddie, thinking of her all the way from Alabama.

Not to mention, she NEVER missed a hair salon appointment, which was conveniently next to her favorite place in the world – TJ Maxx, where she spent most of her money on snacks and clothes.

In memory of Elizabeth Keeley, donations may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center in support of her two grandchildren, Christopher and Connor.

To honor her memory, let us celebrate the beautiful and vibrant life she led. The wake services will be held on Saturday, March 9th from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave, (Rte.62) Wilmington, MA. There will be a private funeral to follow.
