Emily Dukus Obituary

Emily M. Dukus (Babine), age 101, a life-long resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on April 1, 2024.

Emily was also born at home in Wilmington, MA, on January 29, 1923; she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Florence J. (Surette) Babine. 

Emily was the beloved wife of the late John E. “Curly” Dukus, devoted mother of Rose Henneberger and her late husband Richard of Eagan, MN, Nancy Park and her husband Kenneth of Loudon, NH, Sharon Havens and her husband Peter of Brookline, NH, and the late Joan Brothers and her late husband John (Lenny) of Tewksbury.  Loving “Gram” of Christopher Brothers and his wife JoAnn, Pamela Thomas and her husband Neil, Sharon Blais, Kenneth Park Jr., Gregory Havens, Joseph Havens and his wife Alyssa, Caroline Gomez and her husband Joseph, Jesse Havens, and the late Andrew Havens. “Gram Dukus” to her great-grandchildren, Jake, Brent and his wife Kaitlyn, Madison, Hayleigh, Allison and her husband Zack, Jennifer, Allden, Jaiden, Landon, Colton, Alexis, Andrew, Maria, and great-great-grandchildren, Duke, Lily, Nathan, and Mackenzie.  Emily was the dear sister of May Jones of Wilmot Flat, NH, the late Rita, Henry, Edward, Bernard, and Jean.  She is further survived by her nieces, nephews, their families and extended Welsh family.

Emily was a woman of faith who had a genuine love for people and animals. She loved celebrations with her family where she would enjoy games, laughter and making memories. Having lived 101 years, Emily loved to travel both domestically and abroad and witnessed many historical events. She weathered storms that we have only read about. With her sense of humor and spirited personality, she embraced many in her straightforward way. 

Family and friends will gather during visiting hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62) Wilmington, MA on Friday, April 5th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA on Saturday, April 6th at 10:00 a.m.  Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
