Flodin, George Obituary

George E. Flodin, 44, of Wilmington, died unexpectedly, January 1, 2007.

George was born August 22, 1962, in Winchester, MA, he was the beloved son of Ralph Flodin, Sr, and Dorothy (Pike) Lyons, both of Alton, NH. George was a life-long resident of Wilmington, he attended Wilmington Public Schools and graduated from Shawsheen Valley Regional Tech. High School in 1980. Following graduation, George worked for C & J Lawnmower Company in the small engine repair department. He enlisted in the U. S. Airforce in 1981, where he served as a Airlift Aircraft Maintenance Specialist for 3 years. Upon returning from the Airforce, George worked in the family business, R. C. Flodin Plumbing & Heating, for several years, he then went out on his own and was self employed as a general contractor in the construction business, he built residential homes, additions, as well as renovations. George attended night school in the mid 1990’s and earned his Contractors License at Wentworth College in Boston. Upon completing his license, George worked for Tri Mark United East Company and Catawba Corporation installing commercial kitchens for several years and last year he started his own kitchen renovation business called North East Commercial Equipment & Installation. In his spare time George involved himself in many activities, he was on the building committee for the Abundant Life School at the Baptist Church, he was always doing for others and he never took the easy way out of any situation, he was the “social activities director” for his family and he enjoyed planning their special parties and vacations, he made them all an “adventure”, he was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed the games with his family, he loved taking pictures at every event and his motto was “if everyone was having fun, he was having fun”. But the most important thing in George's life was his children, he attended every event in their life whether it was hockey, cheerleading, or a school event, he enjoyed playing games with them and taking them on adventures, they will miss him dearly.

Besides his parents who survive him, George was the devoted father of Derek G., Andrew J., and Sarah E. Flodin and former husband of Catherine (Doherty) Flodin all of Wilmington, dear brother of Ralph Flodin, Jr. & his wife Patricia of Billerica, Lori Bennett & her husband Mark of Dover, NH, Kristen Downie & her husband Doug of Burlington, James J. Lyons of Salem, and Jodi Flodin of Woburn, step-son of Edward Lyons and Donna Flodin both of Alton, NH, step-brother of Maureen Searles of Merrimack, NH, Lorraine Muse of Pittsburg, NH, Edward Lyons of Freemont, NH, Clayton Lyons of Westwood, and the late Diane Crosby, uncle of Ralph III, Ryan, Brendon, Adam, Jason, Daniel, David, and Jett, George is also survived by his beloved friend Robin Titcomb of Kingston, NH.

His funeral will be held at the First Baptist Church, 173 Church St., Wilmington, on Saturday, January 6, at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Friday, January 5, from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m.
