Guy Clinch Obituary

Mr. Guy C. Clinch, 75, of Salisbury, formerly of Wilmington & Beverly, died Saturday, March 3, at his home surrounded by his family. Guy was born December 27, 1931, in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late Guy and Ethel (Journeau) Clinch. He grew up in Wilmington and graduated Wilmington High School in 1950. Upon completion of High School, Guy joined the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, he served with valor on the USS (DD-643). His comradeship with his fellow veterans continued throughout his life serving on the USS Sigourney (DD-643) Reunion Association Board of Directors, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Tin Can Sailors Organization. He received a citation honoring the Veterans of the USS Sigourney issued by Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney during the 2005 visit of the Sigourney Reunion Association to Massachusetts. Prior to retirement, Guy was a Civil Engineer for the J. Slotnick Company for many years and he was self-employed owner of Guy's Galley Restaurant in the Ryal Side neighborhood in Beverly and the Clinch Family Snack Bar at Lynch Park in Beverly. Guy also worked in the Security Department of the AVNET Company in Peabody. Guy was a life long Boston sports fan, and in his spare time his hobbies included golfing and playing pool with his many friends and walking on the beach with his family.

Guy was the beloved husband of Catherine “Kay” (Doherty) Clinch, devoted father of Guy W. Clinch & his wife Michelle of Ipswich, Gary F. Clinch & his wife Debbie of Grinnell, IA, Robert D. Clinch & his wife Michele of Middleton, and Brian M. Clinch, loving grandfather of Guy M. & Kyle J. Clinch, dear brother of Edward Clinch of Bloomingdale, IN, Barbara Mitchell of Laconia, NH, Maude Barber of Hershey, PA, and the late Frances Swiniarski, Marjorie Whitman, and Dorothy Ettinger, also survived by many nieces & nephews.

His Funeral Service will be held at the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church St., Wilmington, on Friday, March 9, at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Thursday from 2- 4& 6-8 p.m.

Memorial donation's in Guy's name may be made to the Special Olympics of Massachusetts, Attn: Donations, 450 Maple St., Building 1, Danvers, MA 01923.
