Edmund Paul Howard, Jr. "Paul", age 69, of Billerica, died Saturday, September 22nd at Lahey Clinic in Burlington after a long illness. Paul was born March 4, 1938, in Queens, New York, son of the late Edmund P., Sr. & Lillian (Pierce) Howard.
Paul grew up in New York and was educated there. Following High School he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1959. Paul moved to Massachusetts and was a resident of Billerica for over 30 years.
He was employed as a Marketing and Project Manager for Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, MA and Merrimack, NH, prior to retiring. He also received an Associates Degree in Science from Fisher Junior College, Boston, MA, in 1977. Paul was actively involved in the 495th RC Squadron , and he served on various committees at the Wilmington United Methodist Church where he most recently served on the Finance Committee and Pastor Parish Relations. Paul loved to read and his family was very important to him.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Susan J. (Pepi) Howard of Billerica, he was the devoted father of Donna Leavitt and her husband Dr. Kenneth Leavitt of Brookline, and Steven Howard of Springfield, loving grandfather of Rebecca Leavitt of Brookline, and he was the dear brother of the late Charles Howard.
His funeral service will be held Thursday, September 27, at the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church St., Wilmington, at 10:00 a.m. Interment Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Visiting hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington on Wednesday, September 26, from 7-9 p.m.
