Irving "Gene" Martin

Irving E. Martin, "Gene", formerly of Woburn, MA, died peacefully on August 23, 2023.

Gene was born on November 23, 1927, in Boston, MA; he was the dear son of the late Violet (Bickerton) and Irving Martin. Gene grew up in the Boston area; he joined the U. S. Coast Guard as a teenager and served the Country during WWII.

Gene was a resident of Woburn, MA, for most of his adult life. Prior to retiring, he worked for the US Postal Service for 30 plus years.

Gene enjoyed golfing, bowling, taking walks and rooting for his favorite sports team, the Boston Red Sox.  He and his wife, Marilyn enjoyed retirement years at their home in Naples, FL, along with their dog Pooh.

Gene is predeceased by his wife, Marilyn (Garrity) and survived by daughters Lee Ann Merrill and her husband William Merrill of Windham NH, and Dianne McHale and her husband James McHale of Woburn, MA along with grandchildren Nicole Merrill, Jessica Merrill, Sean McHale, and Andrew McHale, great-grandchildren Lena and Kaleb Bottai.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for  A Celebration of Life for Gene on Saturday, September 16th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Chateau Restaurant, 131 River Road, Andover, MA.
