Jack Peter Moore

Jack Peter Moore, of Wilmington, MA, passed away on October 17, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He was just shy of his 102nd birthday.
 
Jack was born on November 25, 1920, in Osborne County, SC and resided all his adult life in Wilmington, MA.
 
Jack enlisted in the U. S. Army/Air Force on October 29, 1940; he served as a 1st Sergeant during WWII, under the direct command of General Patton. Jack served in several battles and campaigns throughout France, Italy, Central Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Jack was an expert marksman, and he earned several commendations including the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the American Defense Service Medal to name a few.  Jack was honorably discharged on September 6, 1945.
 
Prior to retiring, Jack, taught electronics in the Medford school system and for years he worked as General Manager for Hickock/Boleco teaching systems in Woburn, MA. After his “retirement” he was the church secretary, administrator, and photographer for the Abundant Life School in Wilmington, MA. He was 92 on his second retirement.
 
Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen E. Moore, also a WWII veteran, and his parents, Wyatt Oliver Moore, Sr. and Miriam (Canady) Moore of Adams Run, SC. Predeceased by his brother Wyatt Oliver Moore, Jr., John Taylor Moore (WWII MIA), and sister Mary Etta Moore (Gerard).
 
He was father to David Taylor Moore and wife Marion of Berlin, NH; Shirley Moore and husband David Bernier of Northboro, MA; Steven Moore of Wilmington, MA; Sylvia Bolton and husband Peter, of Adams Run, SC. Jack was blessed with nine grand children and six great grandchildren.
 
Jack was one of the founders of the Wilmington First Baptist Church, now known as the Abundant Life Church. In lieu of flowers, it was his wish that donations be made to the Abundant Life Church, 173 Church St., Wilmington, MA 01887.
 
Family and friends will gather for Visiting hours on Friday, October 21st from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home,187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte, 62), Wilmington, MA.  A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:00 a.m. in the Abundant Life Church, 173 Church St., Wilmington, MA.  Interment with Military Honors will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
