James Bracken Obituary

James J. Bracken, “Jimmy”, age 53, of Chelmsford, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on January 2, 2024.

Jimmy was born on June 27, 1970, in Cambridge, MA; he was the son of the late Francis J. Bracken, Sr. and Mary L. (Desjardin) Bracken.  Jimmy was raised in Cambridge as the youngest of six siblings and attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School.

Jimmy worked as a Union Representative for many years before retiring.

Jimmy married his wife, Gale L. (Nicholas) Bracken on September 24, 1994.  They lived in Cambridge and Florida before settling in Chelmsford where they raised their two children, Nicole, and James.  Jimmy loved his children and was so proud to become “Grampy” to Natalie James in 2023.

Jimmy was a guitar enthusiast; he had a vast collection of guitars.  Not only did he love to play, but he also enjoyed building or fixing electric guitars.  In high school, Jimmy played in a band, but he continued his guitar passion throughout his life.

In his spare time, Jimmy loved to ride his motorcycles with his friends.  He loved mechanics; he could fix just about anything.  Jimmy also loved Boston sports, especially the Bruins.  He enjoyed watching all the sporting events with his family and friends.

Jimmy was the beloved husband of Gale L. (Nicholas) Bracken, devoted father of Nicole Bracken and James F. Bracken & his wife Jackie all of Chelmsford, loving “Grampy” of Natalie James Bracken, dear brother of Eileen Johnson of Chelmsford, Francis J. Bracken, Jr. & his wife Sharon of Bradford, Jean Marie Bracken of Somerville, Michael K. Bracken & his wife Donna of York Harbor, ME, and Leo R. Bracken of Sarasota, FL, son-in-law of the late Doris L. Nicholas, brother-in-law of Dale Bane, Barbara Maxon, and the late Joanne Nicholas.  Jimmy is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held at a later date.
