James O'Conners Obituary

James T. (Jim) O'Conners, 65, formerly of Wilmington MA, died suddenly July 6, 2022 in Hua Hin, Thailand.  He was predeceased by his parents Norma H. & Thomas J. O'Conners, Jr., his grandparents Hannah T. & Thomas J. O'Conners, Sr., Helen C. & James F. Erikson and his beloved Irish Setter, Erik the Red.

Before graduating with the Wilmington High Class of 75, he worked at his Dad's "Tom's Chevron" on Main St in Wilmington. While attending Bentley College he was a substitute teacher at Wilmington High & Shawsheen Tech.  He graduated from Bentley College in 1979, and went on to teach math in Carver & Turners Falls, MA, before teaching advanced math in American International Schools in Nagoya, Japan, Shanghai, China, 25 years at Ruamrudee  International School in Bangkok, Thailand and Abuja, Nigeria.

Jim's last visit to USA was 3 years ago, to visit with family and friends that he hadn't seen in 25 years, only contacting through emails and letters. He met many of his grand nieces and nephews for the first time.  It was a wonderful time together for the family and hated to part ways again. In June,  Jim accepted a teaching position in VA to start mid August. and was looking forward to another family visit this summer, however, God had better plans for Jim.  All his family, coworkers and friends will certainly miss his witty, dry sense of humor.

Jim loved the Boston sport teams and was a season ticket holder for the Patriots, NE Whalers and Celtics.  Jim attended many Red Sox games with his parents and sister and would email Terri about the current sporting events.  He would also send her surprise gifts pertaining to the Boston sport teams.  Often with comments with their dry sense of humor.

He played and coached sports for many years, starting with the Wilmington Men's Softball League, he played for Doyle's Hardware and coached basketball with the late Larry McGrath of Wilmington.  Whenever and where ever he taught, he would coach basketball and soccer.

Jim is survived by his sister, Theresa H. (Terri O'Conners) Allum and her husband Herbert of Allenstown NH.  He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews, their spouses and many grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to Jim's memorial service at the Wildwood Cemetary, Wilmington MA , O'Conners/Erikson family plot on Maple Ave.  on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 11:00 am under the direction of Nichols Funeral Home  187 Middlesex St. Wilmington MA   In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated and sent to:
