Jane Marie (Corcoran) Crane

Jane M. (Corcoran) Crane, 78, of Wilmington died peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She leaves her husband of 52 years Roy B Crane; her son: Jonathan E. Crane and his wife Cara L. Hutchison Crane; 2 grandchildren: Evelyn M. Crane and Lillian E. Crane; her brother Donald Corcoran and his wife Pamela Corcoran; her sister Duane; as well as 4 nieces and nephews.

Jane was born on April 1st, 1944 to Edward and Marion (Cutter) Corcoran in Waltham, Massachusetts. At a young age, the family moved to Duxbury, where she was a member of the Class of 1962.  She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1966, with a degree in Art Education, where she met Roy. They were married in November 1969 in Duxbury, MA.  Jane and Roy moved to Wilmington in 1972, where they would raise a son and spend the next 50 years together.

Jane was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She was an avid gardener who could frequently be seen tending her vegetables and flower beds in the spring and summer. Jane also was an accomplished artist, painter, photographer and quilter and won many awards in art/quilt shows. She proudly served on the board of the Wilmington Arts Council and loved helping to plan the annual art show. Jane was a member of the Tewksbury Piece Makers Quilters Guild, as sewing and design of custom quilts was a passion of hers.

Jane loved her family dearly and playing with, spoiling, and watching her granddaughters was always a joy.  She loved all animals but had a special fondness for Collies, Labrador Retrievers, and Siamese cats. Jane loved recounting stories from her childhood growing up in Duxbury, swimming in the bay and having collies like Lassie as pets.

Jane will be missed dearly.  We all loved her deeply and are glad she is at peace with her family that passed before.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Tuesday, October 18th from 10:00-12:00 noon immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 noon.  Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
