Jane E. (Jackson) Vasseur

Jane E. Vasseur (Jackson), age 73, a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2023.  

Jane was the beloved wife of nearly 55 years to Edward J. Vasseur, devoted mother of Brian Vasseur and his wife Ashley of Winter Garden, FL, and Lynn Swaner and her husband Jordan of Niceville, FL.  Loving "Grammy" of Rylie, Carter, and Braxton Vasseur, cherished daughter of the late Leonard W. and Dora B. (Mouland) Jackson, dear sister of the late Leonard Jackson.  Jane is also survived by many wonderful friends.

Jane retired from the Wilmington school system after 20 years in 2016.  She loved seeing all the children everyday in her time at the Boutwell school.  She cherished the moments with her coworkers and all the little ones.  This was her passion and she loved what she did.

After retirement, Jane enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends to many different places.  She got to see Iceland, South Dakota, Alaska, Colorado and an amazing trip to Costa Rica.  Her and her husband celebrated their 50th anniversary there as well.

The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing and Jane lived that everyday.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She loved being a grandmother so much and did everything she could for her three grandchildren and furry grandchildren too.

Throughout her life, she loved being creative.  She enjoyed painting, ceramics, and playing the organ.  She created so many memories around the holidays playing Christmas carols for everyone to hear.  She was an awarded calligrapher and known for the beauty in her handwriting.  It was always tough to throw out an envelope she sent a card in!

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Monday, October 9th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  A Service to Celebrate Jane's life will take place at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 10th at 11:30 a.m.
