There are special people in our lives who never leave us, even after they are gone.
Karen A. Doucette, age 63, of Newton, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2023 at Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Karen was born in Winchester, MA on November 7, 1959 to Charles W. and Ruth T. (McKeon) Doucette. After graduation from Wilmington High School, Karen pursued her passion for skin care and esthetics at the esteemed Catherine Hinds School of Aesthetics, in Newton. Karen epitomized the meaning of genuine beauty, inside and out.
Karen's creative talents and draw toward beauty quickly earned her a name in the fashion industry as the best of the best makeup artist in Boston. Karen worked on Newbury Street and in Newton, where she met so many lifelong, talented friends and loyal clients. For many years, she earned the honor of being named the makeup artist for models in Jordan Marsh print ads, Vogue Magazine, and New York runway fashion shows.
Creative inspiration was drawn from many places, including from her love of warm, sandy beaches, azure blue waters, vibrant orange flowers, a perfect slice of thin pizza, a bike ride on a shaded trail, a kayak ride on a sunny blue day, time with her family and friends and just being present.
Karen's ageless spirit touched so many lives. Always remember her trademark red lipstick and white cotton shirts. Inquisitive, curious, modest, devoted, loving and fun...that's our Karen.
Karen will live on in her family's hearts as the beloved daughter of the late Charles W. and Ruth T. Doucette of Wilmington, the much cherished sister of Susan Camillieri of Wilmington, Thomas Doucette, and Lisa Doucette-Bond, all of Wilmington, loving auntie of Lauren, Andrew, Kaileigh and Michelle, great-aunt of London and Shelby, niece of Dorothy. Karen is survived by many kind cousins and relatives. A special thank you is noted to Dr. Cote and Cristina, along with the staff at Massachusetts General Hospital Ellison 16 and Phillips 21, where Karen was admitted one day following our mother's funeral.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00am. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 4-7pm.
