Kenneth Ings Obituary

Kenneth-Norman Ings, age 55, of Wilmington, died Saturday, May 12, 2007, at home surrounded by his family.

Ken was born March 3, 1952, in Bryan, Texas. He grew up in Billerica, MA, and graduated from Billerica High School. He moved to Wilmington in 1970. Ken was employed at Sweetheart Plastics Company in Wilmington for 21 years and as a machinist for J. R. Higgins Company in Acton for several years prior to his illness. Ken was a member of the Wilmington Minutemen and was part of the cannon crew, he also belonged to the Christian Service Brigade, was a member of the Bay State Baptist Church, the New England Frontier Camp, where he taught CPR and First Aid to the kids, and he was a member and Junior League Instructor at the Tewksbury Rod & Gun Club. Ken spent over three decades leading, coaching, and mentoring kids. Ken was also a EMT at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital and various other places where he instructed others in CPR. In his spare time Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting, leather crafting, and gardening, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family.

Ken was the beloved husband of Laurel “Laurie” (Thatcher) Ings, devoted father of John M. Ings & his wife Heather and Melissa “Missy” Ings, loving grandfather of David, Daniel, & Michael Ings all of Wilmington, brother of Robert & Kathy Ings and uncle of Wendy & Tracy Ings all of Billerica, Nephew of L. Jean Ryder of Wilmington.

His funeral will be held at the Grace Community Church, 275 Billerica Road, Chelmsford, MA, on Friday, May 18, at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Thursday, May 17, from 3-8 p.m.

Memorial donation's in Kenneth's name may be made to the New England Frontier Camp, 197 Quite A Road, Lovell, ME 04051 or to the Tewksbury Rod & Gun Club Junior League, 79 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
