Henry R. Kuechler, age 79, of Sandown, NH, formerly of Tewksbury, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on January 25, 1929, in Medford, MA, he was the son of the late Henry R. & Pearl (Carver) Kuechler. Henry grew up in New Jersey and was educated there, on his 17th birthday, January 25, 1946, he joined the U. S. Navy. Henry served the country during WWII, the Korean and Vietnam Wars and the Cold War. He served on various ships and in many countries. During his time in the service Henry also completed Submarine School in 1954, and from 1963 – 1966 he was an Naval ROTC Instructor at Harvard University in Cambridge. Henry retired from the Navy in November of 1968 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer, Gunners Mate. Following his retirement from the Navy, Henry went into the oil burner service profession and worked for Preferred Utilities Company for many years. He retired from the Burlington School System, Burlington High School, as a HVAC Engineer in the late 1980’s. Henry resided with his family in Tewksbury from 1969until 2005, when he moved to Sandown, NH. In his spare time, Henry loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, he was a devoted Patriots Fan and a BIG Red Sox Fan and never missed a game. Henry was an avid coin collector as well as other collectibles. He will be missed by his family, extended family and many friends.
Henry was the devoted husband of 53 years of the late Rose Marie (Fennell) Kuecheler, who passed in 2005. He was the devoted father of Bobby & Cathy Kuechler of Chester, NH, loving grandfather of Christian & Matthew Kuechler and Danielle McManus, brother of the late Dolores Reynolds, and is also survived by many nieces & nephews in New Jersey and Massachusetts.
His Funeral will be held from the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Friday, May 16th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Dorothy's Church, Main St., Wilmington, at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Tewksbury. Visiting hours on Thursday, May 15th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
