Linda Herra Obituary

Linda A. Herra (Casey), a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away unexpectedly March 26, 2024.

Linda was born on November 16, 1957, in Brighton, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Thomas E. and Lorraine A. (Burke) Casey.  Linda was raised in Wilmington, attended Wilmington Public Schools and was a graduate of Wilmington High School Class of 1975.

Linda’s family as well as her extended family were always her priority.  She was a very devoted mother, grandmother, friend, and wife. Linda enjoyed making memories with her “grand-puppies” Molly (Husky) and Archie (Pitbull-Mix) however never stopped reminding her kids of her love for Bassett Hounds.

Linda was her kid’s biggest fan. She would always celebrate their accomplishments as well as offer a shoulder to lean on when life got hard. From watching her son serve his country on multiple deployments during his time in the U.S. Army, to being there when her oldest daughter graduated USMC bootcamp and became a Marine and encouraging her youngest daughter’s career path, Linda never gave up on her kids. Same can be said for her as a grand-mother, always marveling at her granddaughter’s accomplishments.

Linda was a devoted daughter to both parents Thomas and Lorainne. Linda spent a significant amount of time caring for her late mother Lorraine later in life. Linda was always known to drop whatever she had going on to help her mother when needed.

Linda’s love for her friends was unmatched. Linda had many life-long friends who meant the world to her. No matter what was going on in life Linda made sure to routinely check on her friends and make time to see them. In her later years living in California with her daughter she would reminisce often about the good, the bad, and the hilarious times spent with her dearest friends Debbie, Cindy, Cathy and Karen growing up in Wilmington. Later in life she would find friends of the same quality working at Cooper Jewelers in Woburn MA. The stories she told about the team at Cooper Jewelers always brought a smile to her face.

Linda was the devoted mother of James Covert of Fryeburg ME, Casey Herra of Houston TX and Michaela Herra of Wilmington MA.  Loving grandmother of Savanna, mother-in-law of Samantha Covert of Fryeburg ME, sister of Pam "PJ" Casey of Winthrop and the late Brian Casey of Wilmington MA and Chuck Robbins of Hudson, NH. Sister-in-law to Carol Hallisey of Wakefield MA and Kevin Herra of Wilmington MA. Dear Aunt to Sara, Nicholas and great-aunt to Victoria, Nicholas Jr. and Donovan. Linda is further survived by her husband Michael Herra of Wilmington MA and by her nieces, nephews, and friends.

Linda was very patriotic and most certainly proud to be an American, always wearing the red, white, and blue. Linda was in many ways a hero to her family and friends. No matter what circumstances came her way she never gave up. Linda signed her daughter’s bootcamp letters with a saying which is how Linda lived her life. When you think of Linda please remember “The Best Things Come to Those Who Don’t Give Up.”

A Celebration of life will he held at a later date.
