Linda Power Obituary

Linda S. (DiDonato) Power, age 74, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on January 12, 2024.

Linda was born on August 10, 1949, in Somerville, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Sylvester “John” and Mary P. (Aurilio) DiDonato.  Linda was raised in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School with the Class of 1968.

Linda married her husband, Bruce Power on April 7, 1973. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2023. Linda and Bruce lived in Medford for a few years before settling in Wilmington in 1977, where they raised their two sons, Marc and Eric.

Linda worked for The Phone Company (Verizon) for over twenty-five years. After retiring, she worked at Mirabella's Bakery in Tewksbury and then at Shaw's Supermarket in Burlington.  Linda enjoyed working with her co-workers and waiting on customers, but finally stopped working for good about 5 years ago.

Linda’s family was most important to her; she was a devoted wife and mother.  Linda made all the holidays special, especially Christmas.  To kick off the Christmas season, Linda and Bruce, accompanied by family, always cut down their own Christmas tree at a tree farm. She loved decorating the tree and her home for the holiday.  For over forty years, Linda attended Christmas Eve Mass before returning home to host a house full of family and friends on Christmas Eve. She took great joy in maintaining this tradition for so many years.

Linda was very close with her extended family; she enjoyed shopping trips and visits with her cousins.  Linda was always one to send a card for a special occasion or call to check in with her family and friends.

In her earlier years, Linda enjoyed activities such as ice skating, skiing and bowling. Linda always prided herself on having a clean home, cooking delicious food, and finding a good bargain. She enjoyed camping, especially in Maine. Her favorite destination was Sebago Lake, where her family spent over thirty summers.  Linda and Bruce spent many days taking boat rides around the lake and making memories with their family, including their extended "Sebago Family." Linda discovered a new kind of happiness when she became a grandmother.  She loved including her grandchildren in her many established traditions and she always spoiled them with special treats.

Linda was a woman of great faith; she attended Mass at St. Dorothy’s Church weekly since living in Wilmington - always sitting in one of the front few rows.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Linda was the beloved wife of Bruce Power, devoted mother of Marc Power and Eric Power & his wife Adria all of Wilmington, loving “Gigi” of Andrew and Alexandra Power, dear sister of Roger DiDonato of Pepperell and Bobby DiDonato & his wife Pat of Tewksbury.  Linda is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her large extended family.

Family and friends will gather for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main Street, (Rte. 38), Wilmington on Thursday, January 18th at 10:00 a.m.  followed by interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Memorial donations in Linda’s name may be made to Mass General Development Office, Healy Center for ALS, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA  02114-1101.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
