M. Catherine "Cathy" Stanley Obituary

M. Catherine (Cathy) Stanley, 92, well known resident of Tewksbury MA, passed away peacefully on April 02, 2024, at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was the beloved wife of late Kenneth Stanley, with whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on 18 January 2024.

Daughter of the late Joseph Normand and Marie Rose Senneville, she was born 1931, in Lawrence, Ma.; she was raised in Methuen, Ma. and later she lived in Peabody Ma., with the late Ernest Christensen and late Evelyn Christensen.

She graduated from Salem High School and went onto the Northeastern University/Beth Israel, Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program.

She started her nursing career at Beth Israel as a LPN, with her lifelong best friend Jean Brissette. Then she worked for United States Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Bedford as an LPN, where she met her husband Ken and she ended her nursing career at The Tewksbury State Hospital.

She is survived by her Son, Christopher (Chris) Stanley of Chester NH and her Daughter, Christina (Tina) Stanley and her Son-In-law Brian Collins of Tewksbury MA, her Goddaughter Myra Christensen of Peabody MA, and Best Friend Jean Brissette of Norfolk MA.

Cathy leaves behind her five grandchildren; Linda Stanley, Krystal Stanley, Andrew Stanley, Jonathan O’Brien and Amanda O’Brien and five great-grandchildren; Kaleb, Torrie, Zachary, Adeline and Logan and many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her sister Frances Senneville of Tewksbury, her brother-in-law Carl Stanley of Chelmsford and her daughter-in-law Leona O’Brien-Stanley of Chester, NH.

Cathy enjoyed volunteering her time with her husband as leaders for 4-H and Boy Scouts.  She was a member of the Tewksbury Senior’s Golden Age Club and the Tewksbury TOPS.  She was a die heart fan of the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and enjoyed watching the Bruins with her Grandson Andrew. She loved to reading, playing solitaire and doing word searches but her greatest love was spending time with all of her extra special family members, friends and all her dear neighbors.

Cathy’s family would like to give special thanks to her cousin Donna Chevaire for helping the family by taking on a role as caregivers during her declining health.
