Dorothy A. (Amato) Magliano, age 67, of Wilmington, died Sunday, November 4, 2007, at the Naples Hospital in Naples, Florida, following a brief illness. Dorothy was born in Boston, MA, on April 15, 1940; she was daughter of the late Guido and Marie (Colucci) Amato. Dorothy was raised in the North End of Boston and she graduated from Julia Billiard High School.
Dorothy and her husband of 46 years, John, moved to Wilmington in 1968 to raise their two young sons. Prior to retiring, Dorothy was a secretary for Phoenix Foods Inc., for many years. Dorothy was very devoted to her family, she loved to attend hockey, baseball, and other various sporting events to support her sons and in more recent years her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In her spare time, she loved to shop, travel, and winter in Naples, Florida.
She was the beloved wife of John J. Magliano, devoted mother of John P. Magliano & his wife Debra of Upton and James V. Magliano & his wife Beth of Wilmington, loving grandmother of John, Patrick, Jason, Anna, and Jillian-Marie, sister of the late William Amato and Camille Amato Szymanski, aunt of Vicki Riccio, Joseph Szymanski, Louis Chianca, and Susan Ferri.
Her funeral will be held from the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, November 9th at 9:00 a.m. followed by an Funeral Mass at St. Dorothy's Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery. Visiting hours on Thursday, November 8th from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Dorothy's name may be made to The National Kidney Foundation of Massachusetts, 129 Morgan Dr., Norwood, MA 02026.
