Margaret "Margie" DeLuca Obituary

Margaret DeLuca (Russo), age 98, a life-long resident of Woburn, MA, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024.

Margaret was born in Woburn, MA, on June 14, 1925; she was the cherished daughter of the late John and Catherine (Bastolla) Russo.  Margie was the last surviving sibling of a large and loving Italian family that were raised and educated in Woburn.  She was a graduate of Woburn High School.

Margie was the beloved wife of the late Ralph DeLuca, devoted mother of Joseph DeLuca and his late wife Janice of Wilmington and the late Kathleen "Kathy" Wahl and her husband Roy Wahl of Tewksbury.  Loving "Nana" of Jeffrey Wahl and his wife Kristin, Brian Wahl and his wife Kiki, Mark Wahl and his wife Liz, Kristen Wybieralla and her husband Mike, Vickey Fitzgerald and her husband Scot, Steven Sheppard and his partner Diane Zukas, as well as her great-grandchildren Juliana, Cait, Olivia, Alex, Grace, and Sabrina.  Margie is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Margie married "her sweetheart" Ralph DeLuca and the couple made their home in Woburn where they raised two wonderful children, Joe and Kathy.  Margie was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; she made a beautiful home which was always immaculate as she enjoyed cleaning and maintaining her home. The door was always open to family and friends.  Margie’s stove never went cold because she was always cooking up a storm; her food was made from scratch and with a lot of love.  Margie could whip up a gourmet meal with a few ingredients; she was known to make the hottest chili around, her table was always full with family and friends, and EVERYONE had to eat before they went home or she would be insulted.

Margie’s family and extended family were always her priority; she treasured every moment they spent together and she loved to spoil her grandchildren whom she adored.  Margie was the family "energizer bunny" who loved to dance at every party; she was the first on the dance floor and the last to leave; she enjoyed having everyone around and having a good time.   Margie and Ralph shared over 60 years together and made countless memories with family and friends before Ralph's passing in 2015.

Margie was also a hard worker; for many years she was employed at RCA in Burlington where she made many good friends throughout the years.  Following her retirement, she took a job at Papa Gino's at the Woburn Mall; she had such an endearing personality and everyone at the pizza shop loved her.

Margie was a wonderful woman who was very kind to everyone she met; she had an unconditional love for her family and friends and a heart of gold.  She will forever be loved and missed by all.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Thursday, April 4th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  A Service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, April 5th at 11:30 a.m. followed by her interment in Calvary Cemetery, 686 Washington Street, Winchester, MA.
