Margaret L. (Manley) Fleming, “Peggy”, age 76, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Peggy was born on July 27, 1946, in Lowell, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late James and Irene (Roper) Manley.  Peggy was raised in Tewksbury and graduated from Tewksbury High School.  Following graduation, Peggy attended Merrimack College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education.  She went on to complete her master’s degree at UMass Boston.

Peggy married Alexander “Bob” Fleming in 1972 and they spent over forty-eight years together before Bob’s passing in February 2021.  They settled in Wilmington, where they raised their two boys, Bob, and Dave.

Peggy had a wonderful teaching career; she taught in both Tewksbury and Wilmington for many years.  “Mrs. Fleming” as she was fondly referred to by her students, was a kind and friendly teacher.  She forged many lasting friendships with her fellow teachers and administration during her time as a middle school teacher in Wilmington.

In her spare time, Peggy loved to play with her grandchildren, work in her garden, play cards with her Wilmington friends, and spent many days watching Wilmington High sports and working with the Booster Club.

Peggy was the loving wife of the late Alexander R. “Bob” Fleming, devoted mother of Robert Fleming & his wife Kimra of Melrose, MA and David Fleming & his wife Bethany of Lake Arrowhead, CA. Loving “Grammie” of Sophia and Addison Fleming, dear sister of James Manley & his fiance Stephanie, Mark Manley & his wife Kathy, sister-in-law of Sally Gallagher & her husband Richard, Mary Fleming, the late Ann MacDonald, James Fleming, and Donald Fleming.  Peggy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
