In Wilmington, Mary lived with her family (parents, siblings, husband and children) on Park Street in the family home until 1959, when the house was moved to Woburn Street to accommodate the construction of Route 93. The Park Street property was bordered with giant spruce trees brought from Canada. Mary and her family continued to occupy the family home and it is still used by the family today.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was an avid gardener and crafter. Her home on Park Street was surrounded by beautiful flower and rock gardens tended by Mary. She made many beautiful ceramic pieces and will always be remembered by her Sunday school students for the beautiful religious statuary she made for them while preparing them for their First Holy Communion. She was an extraordinary stitcher, producing beautiful displays of Japanese Bunka and Hardanger embroidery. Mary spent many years working as a clerk in the Wilmington and North Wilmington Postal Offices. After retirement, Mary and her husband took up golfing and spent every Winter in Florida enjoying that sport. Their summer months were spent on the golf course at Pine Valley in Pelham, NH, until Sammy's death. Thereafter Mary spent her winters in Georgia with her late sister.
