Mr. Stephen J. McDougall, age 86, of Wilmington, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at home, surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness. Mr. McDougall was born June 5, 1921, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Ellen (Harte) McDougall. Mr. McDougall grew up in Canada and was educated there. He moved to the United States in 1951, first settling in Medford, MA, he and his wife moved their family to Wilmington in 1966, where he resided until his death. Prior to his retirement, he was a carpenter for Union Local #41, in Woburn, MA, for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed exploring with his metal detector and was an avid coin collector. Most importantly, Mr. McDougall enjoyed being with his family, and they will miss him greatly.
He was the beloved husband of Mary (McInnis) McDougall of Wilmington, devoted father of Gary McDougall of Wilmington, Blaise & his wife Theresa (Krasinski) McDougall of New Hampshire, loving grandfather of Shannon, Meghan, & Scott McDougall, and Darby & Mike Ranger, great-grandfather of Mia & Alaina McDougall, and the last survivor of 11 siblings.
Funeral services were private.
