Alice E. (Garland) McFeeters, age 90, of Wilmington, died Friday, November 21, 2008, at the Wilmington Healthcare Center.
Alice was born in Merrimac, MA, on January 21, 1918 and she was the daughter of the late John F. & Florence (Hitchcock) Garland. Alice moved to Wilmington in 1950 to raise her family, in 1973 she moved to Santa Barbara, California and returned to Wilmington in 1989, where she resided until her death. While in California, Alice was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Santa Barbara.
Prior to retirement, Alice worked for the Raytheon Company for over 30 years. In her spare time, Alice loved to cook, travel, crochet, knit, and go for her daily walks. Her family and friends will remember her as the Greatest Mom in the world to all her children.
Alice was the beloved wife of the late Robert McFeeters for 48 years until his passing in 1985, she was the devoted mother of George & Judith McFeeters and Michael & Sandra McFeeters all of Wilmington, Kenneth McFeeters and Robert & Aki McFeeters all of California, Kathleen & the late Rufus Patterson of Florida, Richard & Dorothy McFeeters of Brighton, and her “special son” the late David J. Dingle, loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Alice will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 2:00 p.m.
