Michael T. Ingersoll, otherwise known as Inksy, of Tewksbury, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 55 surrounded by his loving family on October 14, 2022, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Michael was born on April 24, 1967, in Lowell. He was the cherished only son of the late Fred and Betty (Lohnes) Ingersoll. He was raised and educated in Wilmington where he was the record breaking running back of Wilmington football from pop warner through high school, the prized pupil in high school woodshop, and a rockstar guitar player in multiple bands. He will forever be memorialized in the Wilmington High School Hall of Fame after the whole school was dismissed from classes to listen to his band play. Some of his favorite childhood memories include the mischievous shenanigans he got into with the neighborhood kids of Jere and Fairmeadow Roads.
In high school, he won a state award for woodshop, inspiring his illustrious career in carpentry. He founded M.T.I. Construction, otherwise known as Multi-Talented Individuals, in the 80’s and built a successful business constructing homes throughout New England. He will always be commended for his integrity, work ethic, and impeccable attention to detail as well as his pure talent. Michael always looked for opportunities to give back to his community, whether it was working for Habitat for Humanity or building a playground at his daughter’s elementary school. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or share his wealth of knowledge. After years of working with Michael “Dibble” Welch, he became the finest “Dibsman”.
Michael married his childhood sweetheart Brenda in September of 1993, and they just celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary. Their love story started when they began dating at just 13 years old. However, it actually began long before this, as they discovered years later that they had coincidentally been baptized together as infants. They lived a full life together that many would dream of. A true happily ever after never ends…
Of all the accomplishments in his life, his proudest achievement was his daughter Caryssa. He always encouraged her education and bragged to anyone who would listen that she was following her dream of becoming a doctor. He taught her to have the same work ethic as him and instilled confidence and perseverance in her from a young age.
Michael loved anything with a motor, but his biggest passion in life was snowmobiling, which his grandfather introduced him to at 4 years old, and the rest is history. His happy place was Maine, where he spent his free time with family and friends on snowmobiles, boats, and side-by-sides. He welcomed everyone to their place in Maine, he was the ultimate host and made sure everyone had a great time.
Michael was the beloved husband of Brenda (MacDonald) Ingersoll, devoted father of Caryssa Ingersoll & her significant other Tim Vongsy and the late Joey Ingersoll, dear brother of Robin Enriquez of Haverhill and Bonnie Kelliher & her husband Jim of Walpole. Loving Uncle of Derek & Katie Kelliher and their daughter Yvey, Devon Kelliher, Liam Kelliher, Sarah King, Dwight Storer, Connor MacDonald, and Crimson MacKinnon. Dear son-in-law of Ronald MacDonald and the late Barbara MacDonald and brother-in-law of Donna MacDonald, Linda MacDonald Storer, Ronald "Frankie" & his wife Jennifer MacDonald and Scott MacKinnon. Fond nephew of the late Jimmy Ingersoll, Judy Milliken, Danny Ingersoll, the late Rita Quimby, the late Gary Lohnes, Gloria Morris, and Byron Lohnes. Close cousin of Mark Ingersoll and Kelley (Ingersoll) Celata and many other cousins. Michael is also survived by many close friends and will be missed.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Friday, October 21st at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy's Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in the family lot at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, October 20th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
