Michael Zolt Obituary

Michael E. Zolt, “Mike”, age 62, of Lowell, formerly of Billerica, passed away on September 16, 2022.

Mike was born on May 2, 1960, in New Bedford, MA; he was the son of the late Abraham and Margot (Mikki) Zolt.  He was raised in New Bedford, Billerica, Providence, and Georgia.

He worked as a sheet rock installer for many years.  He was dedicated to his work and made several friends and contacts throughout his career.

Mike was the “life of the party;” he loved to have a good time.  He would arrive at any gathering and immediately became the center of attention.  He had a hearty laugh and liked to get people involved in the activities.  He would stand up and sing for anyone who would listen and would perform songs from his daughters balcony for the neighborhood to enjoy. One of his favorite things to do was attend live performances of his good friends band The Instigators.

He enjoyed nature and taking many fishing trips with his son over the years. He liked to be outside enjoying nice weather, soaking up the sun and jet skiing at the lake with his grandchildren and family. He enjoyed talking to everyone and made everyone feel like they were welcome.

He will be remembered as “Papa Zolt”, a free spirit who cared about his family.  He was the type of person you could call for anything and he’d be there.  He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Mike was the devoted father of Erica Zolt & her husband Luis Aponte of Lowell, Alexandria Zolt of Lowell and Rick Douglas Zolt of Plainville, Step Dad of Jennifer Sordiff of Lowell, Renee Simmons, Ashley Doherty, and Melissa Doherty of Pawtucket, loving “Grandpa Mike” of Antonio Zolt, Z’Nyahlyze Aponte, Luis Aponte, Jr., Rae’Lynne Aponte, Cayden Lemay, Serina Yath, Peter LaRoche, Olivia LaRoche, Lucia Foresti, Isabella and Elijah Gonzalez, “Great-Grampa Mike” of Kaison and Sonder, dear brother of Jeff Zolt & his wife Charlotte “Cece” of Wilmington, Amy Zolt of Pawtucket, and Wendy Tavares & her husband David of Rehoboth.  Mike is survived by his life-long best friends, Jack Rogers, Moe Joyce, and Thomas Perez, his former spouse and friend Brenda (Hines) Zolt, as well as many loving nieces and nephews who know him as “Uncle Buck”
