Obituary

Norman Thomas Stewart of Arlington, Texas passed away on January 1, 2023, at the age of 91.  Norm is survived by his loving wife, Stevie, sister Pearl Pitt, children Maria Moscaritolo (Paul), John Stewart (Anita), Tracey Stewart (Julie), Lisa Glen (Andy), Frankie Estrada, Stephanie Travioli (Keith) along with many grandchildren who know him as Popeye, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.  Norm is pre-deceased by his parents Harry Stewart & Ada (Spencer) Stewart, brothers Harry and Ervyl, sister Dorothy and his son Norman (Normie) T. Stewart, Jr.

Norm’s love for the Boston Red Sox and Patriots was only surpassed by his love for his family.  He graduated from Wilmington High School, Tufts University (B.S.) and University of Hartford (M.S.).  Old Silver Toe’s skill as a kicker and leader on the football field earned him co-captain status for the Jumbos and is still talked about, if only by his family!  Norm had a fulfilling career in College Administration in a variety of locations, retiring from Tarrant County College. His former colleagues will miss him greatly.

A US Army Veteran, Corporal Stewart served in the Infantry as a supply specialist in the European Theater during the Korean War.  His athletic prowess earned him spots on the US Army Europe Football, Baseball and Hockey squads.

Post retirement, Norm and Stevie traveled extensively, including frequent trips to El Paso, Cape Cod and the Boston Area, visiting family and friends, and occasionally frequenting the poker tables at nearby casinos.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will take place in the Veteran’s section of the Wildwood Cemetery, 233 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA on Saturday, March 18th at 11:00 a.m.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA.  To leave a message of condolence for the family please visit our website at www.nicholsfuneralhome.com
