Paul Hill Obituary

Paul D. "Butchie" Hill, age 60, a life-long resident of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly at home on November 6, 2023.

Butchie was born on April 30, 1963, in Lowell, MA; he was the dear son of the late Leonard L. and Joan E. (Lakin) Hill.  Butchie grew up in the "Silver Lake" section of Wilmington where he made many fond memories with family and friends.  Butchie looked forward to the summer months where he could swim, hang out, and go fishing and in the winter he was right there to shovel off a section for the competitive hockey games he loved to play with family, friends, and neighbors.

Butchie worked hard throughout his life; for many years he worked installing and designing fences for his brother Billy at Hill Fence Company.

In his spare time, he enjoyed following the New England Patriots and the New York Giants and he loved to head to Florida in the winter months where he visited with family and friends; always enjoying a sun and great weather.  Butchie's favorite past time was riding his motorcycle; he enjoyed going on long rides, fund raising rides with his motorcycle club, or just heading out on the open road where he could meet new people and see new places.

Butchie looked forward to the time he spent with family and friends; he especially enjoyed being with his daughters.  Butchie loved to teach his girls how to fish and ice skate on Silver Lake, he enjoyed their annual "dates" to Hermit Island and taking them to the Wilmington Fourth of July fireworks.  He was very proud of his girls.

Butchie will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor; he was a prankster who loved to make people laugh.  He was a loyal friend who would do anything for anyone and would literally give you the shirt off his back.  But most of all, Butchie, will be remembered for his love of family, friends, and his dogs especially Link who was his faithful companion.  Butchie made an impact on so many lives and he will forever be miss by all who knew and loved him.

Butchie is survived by his daughters, Sydney Celli and her husband Tristin and Valerie Hill all of Litchfield, NH. He was "Papa" to Sienna and Tucker Celli.  Butchie was the brother of Leonard "Chippy" Hill of Maine, William "Billy" Hill of Wilmington, Terry Russo and her husband John of Wilmington and Palm Harbor, FL, Veronica "Ronnie" Hill of Wilmington, and Lynn Hill Pellegrino of Auburn, NH.  Butchie is also survived by Shannon and Michael Cardoso and their children Michael Jr. and Ava, as well as his aunts and uncles, and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Friday, November 10th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Dorothy's Church, Main Street (Rte. 38), Wilmington, MA, at 10:00 a.m.  Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, November 9th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Butchie's memory may be made to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA  01844 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
