Richard Davis “Dave” Bergstrom, Jr., 54, of Wilmington, passed away suddenly on March 7, 2024.

Dave enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 14, 1990. He proudly served his country for more than three years including a deployment overseas for more than a year.

Dave is the cherished son of Diane & Gordon Josephson of Wilmington and Richard (late) & Patricia Bergstrom of Salem, dear brother of Darlene Cerce and Amy DiLisio & her husband Jay, loving uncle of Andrew Cerce & his wife Greta, Nathan Cerce, and Ryan DiLisio, and significant other Jianna Attenazio. Dave is also survived by his dear friends, Brent & Jodi Smith and his former brother-in-law, Chris Cerce. Dave is also survived by his uncle and Godfather Ernest Bergstrom and uncle Clifford Stinson & his wife Patricia, as well as his other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Dave enjoyed a successful career in sales. In his recent years, Dave worked as an insurance salesman.

Dave bravely battled and beat lung cancer and has been cancer free for four years.

Dave was committed to and passionate about fitness and nutrition. Dave had the unique ability to recount famous moments in the history of the Red Sox and Patriots, including dates, times, and the players involved. Dave’s love of snowstorms, especially the Blizzard of ’78, made him the resident meteorologist for his friends and family. Dave was passionate about the military and history. He was a huge music fan and loved everything from Metallica to the Bee Gees.

Dave cherished the time he spent with his friends and family and his larger-than-life personality, signature grin, loyalty, one-of-a kind sense of humor, and his ability to tell a story will be greatly missed by all that knew him. And to know him was to love him.
