Robert A. George, "Bob", age 82, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023, with his loving family at his side.
Bob was born on July 16, 1941, in Cambridge, MA; he was the dear son of the late Anthony and Anne George. Bob was one of 18 siblings who were raised and educated in a large and loving family from Cambridge. Following graduation from High School, Bob, enlisted in the United States Army in August of 1958; he was always so proud to have served the Country. Bob had many great experiences in the Army including his meeting Elvis Presley who was serving at the same time. Bob went on to become a life-long Elvis fan. Bob's active duty in the Army concluded in August of 1961; he returned home to his family but continued to serve with the Army Reserves until August of 1964.
Bob married "the loved of his life and best friend" Jean Driscoll in 1966; they moved to Wilmington in 1975, raised five wonderful children and were blessed with twelve grandchildren to spoil. Bob was a very devoted family man who showered his wife, children, and grandchildren with unconditional love every chance he got. When his children were growing up he was always there to do special things with them like taking them to their favorite movie theatre, mini golfing, and special vacations; he enjoyed watching them experience different things and new places. Bob loved holidays; he was always glad to host, he enjoyed getting everyone together, he loved to cook, and went out of his way to make holidays very special and memorable for his family and friends. Bob was a generous man when it came to helping his children or grandchildren get something special that they wanted; he showed them the importance of hard work to get what you want but was always willing to help them out; he loved to see his family happy. Bob also looked forward to taking his children bowling while wearing matching shirts or playing a friendly game of chess especially with his brother Anthony.
Bob had an entrepreneurial spirit at heart and an incredible work ethic; he had several successful businesses throughout the years before taking a position as a systems analyst for the Federal Government. Bob had an endearing personality and wonderful people skills; he made many good friends with his customers as well as his co-workers throughout the years.
When not active at work, Bob, found many things to keep him busy; he was always on the go and loved working outside in his yard. Bob enjoyed going for walks, he was always exercising and keeping himself moving.
In his spare time, Bob, enjoyed nothing more than being with "his Jean" whether they were going out to dinner, to a movie theatre, watching their beloved Red Sox and New England Patriots, and following "their" Tom Brady. They were Big Elvis fans, attended several of his concerts and the Elvis movie was the last he saw at the theater.
Bob will be remembered as a great guy, he was hardworking, respectful and appreciated everything in life. Bob had a heart of gold and would go out of his way to help anyone in need. His love for his family and friends was evident in everything he did; he was so loved and will forever be missed by all.
