Robert Zengilowski Obituary

Robert S. Zengilowski, fondly known to his friends as “Bob” or “Zing”, age 72, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on January 10, 2024.

Bob was born on April 10, 1951, in Cambridge, MA; he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Dorothy L. (Nicholson) Zengilowski.  Bob was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1969.

Following graduation, Bob attended Lowell Tech and Northeastern University while completing his certification in Pipefitting and HVAC services at Shawsheen Tech in 1972.

Bob enlisted in the United States Army in 1970; he proudly served his country before his honorable discharge.  Bob continued his commitment to the military with his National Guard service until 1976.

Bob married Margaret (O’Connor) Zengilowski in 1979; they spent thirteen years together and raised their two sons, John and Michael in Londonderry, NH.

Prior to moving back to Wilmington in 1993 to care for his aging parents, Bob established his business, Mountain Air Mechanical, that he owned and operated for over 35 years.

In his spare time, Bob enjoyed his free time with his friends and family playing card games, especially cribbage.  He had a life-long passion for camping and fishing.  He often visited White Lake State Park, where he was blessed to be able to share his childhood traditions with his sons, friends, and later his grandson, Connor.

Bob loved karate; he continued karate for most of his life and enjoyed sharing his love of the sport with his family and friends.  He was also a life-long fan of baseball; he played ball in his youth, he watched countless Red Sox games at home and at Fenway Park, and he taught his boys the game he loved.

Bob will be remembered for his kindness; he was always willing to help a friend or co-worker.  He was also just as likely to play a practical joke on anyone he knew and loved.  Bob will also be remembered for his Catholic faith; he was a true believer in God and was comforted by the idea of Heaven.

Bob was the devoted father of John Zengilowski of Wilmington and Michael Zengilowski & his wife Laurel of North Conway, NH, loving “Jaja” of Connor Zengilowski, dear brother of John Zengilowski & his wife Angela of Virginia, uncle of Lynne Bornstein, Michelle Zengilowski, and Leanne Overstreet.  Bob is also survived by many cousins as well as his life-long neighbors, Evamarie Patrick, Brandi Foote, and Annessia Tiberio.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations in Bob’s name may be made to the Elks Lodge, 777 South Street, Tewksbury, MA  01876.
